Joy

There’s nothing like Christmas for instilling a little happiness; enjoy time in the city by spending precious time with the ones you love and reunite with close friends.

As you exit Leeds train station, enjoy a playful performance of Illuminate Us at the new ‘Platform’ building (formerly City House). Here, young people paint poetically with words using a digital canvas and illuminate their relationships with each other and the audience.

The Christkindlmarkt on Millennium Square is back again, this time with the added bonus of running right until Christmas Eve. Every year, the established German market of over 40 stalls brings joy to visitors with delicious treats, festive drinks, and twinkling rides to get you in the Christmas mood

If it’s fun you’re after, continue celebrations with friends at nearby Bierkeller, the authentic Bavarian pub, complete with beer steins, a resident oompah band, and the opportunity to sing as loud as you can!

If you’ve had enough of enjoying yourself, why not make others happy with a poignant visit to The St John’s Centre Wishing Tree. The aim is to spread festive messages of goodwill, selflessness, and hope to all.

Make a little wish to hang from this special tree, and get a warm glow knowing that the notes – written on seeded paper – will be planted in the New Year to bloom in various city centre locations. A joy that keeps on giving!
