#1
The lights are created using recycled cellophane from the Quality Street factory in Halifax, sourced via Scrap Creative Reuse, where Alison sources lots of materials for her work.
#2
The process of making the lights was long and painstaking - even the smallest light took 7 hours to make!
#3
Cutting the candy canes to the right length meant that Alison's studio was covered in little broken pieces, which made everything quite sticky!
#4
The piece is inspired by a Christmas memory; for Alison a big tin of Quality Street is synonymous with Christmas, but by the end of Boxing Day all her family were left with was a big tin of empty wrappers!
#5
The process of making the piece was quite evocative, as the cellophane used for Quality Street has a particular smell!
